The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari By Robin Sharma
I recently read this book and I would highly recommend it if you have not read it. It is about a highly stressed Lawyer whose out of balance lifestyle leads him to a near fatal heart attack in a packed courtroom.
This forces him to take a look at his life and he embarks upon an extraordinary journey to India, where he discovers a powerful system to release the potential of his mind, body and soul, and he learns to live with greater passion, purpose and peace.
I am currently reading another of his books, Family Wisdom. Here are a few key points taken from both books. Master your mind, cultivate your mind and it will blossom beyond expectations. Keeping your thoughts positive. The quality of your life is determined by the quality of your thoughts.
Be aware that there are no mistakes, only lessons. Follow your purpose, the purpose of life is a life of purpose. Set clearly defined personal, professional and spiritual goals, and then have the courage to act on them. Respect your time, time is your most precious commodity and it is non-renewable.
Focus on your priorities and maintain balance. Simplify your life. Have the courage to say no, when you don’t want to give your time. Imagine this was your last day on earth, how and who would you choose to spend your time with. Time slips through our hands like grains of sand, never to return again.
Use your time wisely.
Embrace the present, Live in the “now”. Savour the gift of the present.
Never sacrifice happiness for achievement. Happiness does not arrive when you achieve certain things. It comes when you think certain thoughts.
Savour the journey and live each day as your last. Live your childrens childhood. Practice gratitude, grow your destiny. We are all here for some special reason. Stop being a prisoner of your past. Become the architect of your future. We need to define our priorities, the values, endeavours and dreams that guide us and build our worlds around those things.
It’s not enough just to get through each day. We need to make every day a platform for accomplishing what we want out of life. We must take responsibility for ourselves and the world we live in so that we can live with ourselves and the world around us. Never forget the importance of living with unbridled exhilaration. Never neglect to see the exquisite beauty in all living things. Today, and this very moment, is a gift. Stay focused on your purpose. The universe will take care of everything else.
